Special Needs Planning

We are personally familiar with the challenges that arise from financial planning for special needs families.  As your dedicated advocate, we are able to provide the guidance and information needed to establish special needs trusts, connect you with the right attorneys, and take the worry out of tomorrow.

Nothing is more important than family.  At Life Planning Group, we are dedicated to promoting the lifetime care and well-being of your special needs family member.

If you and your family have a Special Needs child, we will work with you to:

Simplify the intricacies of Social Security and Medicaid.

Government benefits and aid can be confusing.  Through our ongoing emphasis on education and financial literacy, we will help strengthen your understanding of how the system works so you can be a confident and knowledgeable leader for your child.

Establish long-term strategies to support for your child.

To avoid compromising the receipt of government assistance, it is best to delay a special needs child from inheriting their assets outright.  We will help you leave funds in such a way that your child can still benefit from federal assistance.

Develop a letter of intent.

Protecting your child extends beyond their financial future.  You want to have assurance that your child’s caretaker understands them like you do.  A letter of intent enumerates this kind of specific instruction and gives your child a better chance at enjoying a comfortable life with people they can trust.

Decide on ongoing care.

When it comes to ongoing care, there are countless options at your disposal.  For instance, should a family member be the child’s guardian?  Would a family friend be a stronger choice? Would group housing be most beneficial?  We will help you assess your options and identify the best avenue to provide for your child’s future.

Designate a trustee.
The guardian of a special needs child is not necessarily the best person to manage the child’s money.  To that end, we will work with you to find the ideal individual for the role.
